We’re here to help | Manaaki Tāngata
At PGF Services we know it’s sometimes hard to ask for help, but if gambling is impacting your life, or the life of someone you care about, you don’t have to struggle alone.
We have duty counsellors available by phone, email, text, or live chat between 8.30am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday to answer your questions and provide immediate support.
We provide:
- Free, professional, and confidential counselling for gamblers and families affected by someone’s gambling
- Education and support groups
- Culturally appropriate counselling
- Assistance with self-exclusion from places that provide gambling.
- Our experienced counsellors are there to provide guidance. They will help you to achieve goals, learn new skills, provide information on the harms from gambling and help reduce your chances of gambling relapse. You can bring a support person and whānau are always welcome in our counselling sessions.
Our approach in counselling sessions is to empower and encourage individuals and whānau towards wellbeing, and to be mana enhancing in all we do, caring for the spiritual emotional, physical and intellectual needs of people and communities. We actively seek your feedback so that we can best meet your needs and aspirations.
Health promotion | Hauora Whānui
We have a dedicated health promotion team who work in the community to raise awareness of gambling harm.
We provide:
- Education and training on identifying and screening for gambling harm
- Advocacy work, aiming to achieve effective and caring policies that minimise the harm from gambling in New Zealand
- Support for gambling venues to provide a safe environment
- Stalls at community events
- A Knowledge Hub with printable fact sheets.

At PGF Group, we provide free, professional and confidential counselling and support services throughout New Zealand for anyone impacted by gambling. We also have dedicated health promotion teams who work in the community to raise awareness of gambling harm through advocacy work, education and training.
We welcome applications from like-minded individuals who are keen to make a difference and help individuals, families and communities be free from gambling harm.
Clinical Lead - Youth Services
Contract/Temp
We are seeking a full-time fixed-term Clinical Youth Services Lead to support a youth-focused co-design pilot project. The role requires strong expertise in youth and community development and ideally behavioural addictions. The Clinical Youth Services Lead will guide the project across four core blocks of work: building the evidence base, participating in youth co-design, supporting sector test-site collaboration, and shaping and testing the final service model. They will ensure that all insights, prototypes, and design decisions remain grounded in clinical evidence and best practice. The clinician will take on a caseload of rangatahi that come into PGF and will test the youth support service as part of the co-design process. There is a dual reporting line: 1) to the National Clinical Director for clinical oversight and day to day management of caseload and 2) to the Youth Project Manager for project deliverables and outcomes. This role is fixed term for 12 months at which point we expect the youth pilot project should be complete.
First Contact and Response Practitioner
Full Time
This Te Waharoa Kaihaumanu/Practitioner (First Contact and Response) role is based in Christchurch - Ōtautahi. This role is fixed term from the 16th of February 2026 until the 12th of February 2027 to cover the maternity leave of one of our Te Waharoa Kaihaumanu/Practitioners (First Contact and Response).
You will participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team to provide clinical care and case management to individuals, whānau/families and affected others experiencing gambling harm and other co-existing conditions such as mental health, drug and alcohol use and wellbeing. The role offers lots of variety, from providing whānau support services, to raising awareness of gambling harm through education and community engagement in the Christchurch region. This role will involve after hour appointments to meet the needs of our Tāngata Whaiora. Your experience as an addiction's practitioner, social worker, corrections, justice or mental health worker will be beneficial, however we don’t require you to have experience working with gambling harm treatment.
