What support work do we do?
We have friendly support workers as part of our team who are dedicated to making your journey as easy and as comfortable as possible.
Our support workers include individuals with a range of experiences. Some of our team have lived experience of gambling harms, including being affected by another person’s gambling, while others bring cultural knowledge and understanding to create a respectful and inclusive environment for all our tāngata whaiora.
Our support workers are also involved in our public health efforts, providing education within their region, raising awareness about gambling harm and supporting the completion of multi-venue exclusions and self-exclusions for people who may not be engaged in PGF Services.
It’s important to us that you’re guided on your journey with integrity and mana and our support workers are there to make sure that happens.
What is Peer Support?
Peer support involves members of our team who have lived experience of gambling harm providing support to others who are embarking on their own journey of recovery.
We know it’s difficult to talk to people about deeply personal experiences that many other people may not understand. Our peer support staff just “get it” as they have walked a similar path, have experienced gambling harm and provide empowerment and hope, demonstrating that change is possible.
What is Cultural Support?
We will provide assistance that acknowledges, respects and integrates your cultural background, bring values and practices into the support you receive, ensuring they are upheld while you move through your journey.
We are here to help you get to where you want to be so it’s important to us that you feel comfortable, valued and respected.
