PGF Services has been developed in response to information from key stakeholders, clients and the community about the challenges that the words problem and gambling presented. In summary, we were advised that it prevented engagement because of stigma and did not adequately represent the range of services and support we can provide. Addressing that has been a challenge and it was important to us not to lose the history and identity associated with the existing name that has been built up over many years. PGF Services is a subtle name change but one that provides an effective solution. It will enable us to better represent our counselling and health promotion services and enable us to expand our capabilities outside of problem gambling.
PGF Services will now sit alongside Mapu Maia (Pacific Counselling and Public Health Service) and Asian Family Services (Counselling, Public Health and the Helpline).
While the Problem Gambling Foundation of New Zealand is our legal name, we will now trade as PGF Group, the overarching umbrella brand which will retain the current symbol with a refreshed tagline to reflect the organisation’s vision; healthy and resilient communities in a just society.
